About you
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for accuracy and improvement? We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a core part of our finance function, supporting daily operations and shaping financial practices across the company.

About the role
As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financials that support the smooth operation of our business. Working closely with the Financial Director, and key internal and external stakeholders, you will be involved in a range of responsibilities including:
- Overseeing bookkeeping and ensuring accurate transaction processing
- Running accounts receivable and assisting with accounts payable
- Performing payroll and pension processes, and serving as the go-to person for payroll-related questions
- Supporting month-end close processes: reconciliations, posting accruals and prepayments, and variance analysis, in time taking responsibility for this area
- Contributing to the development of finance and accounting policies
- Preparing internal financial reports and financial commentary
- Assisting with financial forecasts, treasury, and compliance
- Supporting R&D tax claim preparation
- Ensuring robust financial processes across the organisation
Essential skills and knowledge
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in an accounting role
- Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prepare financial statements end-to-end
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles and practices, such as double-entry bookkeeping
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Timely and responsive approach to stakeholder queries
- Experience using accounting software
- Accounting-related degree or AAT Level 2
Desirable skills and knowledge
- Experience using Xero accounting software
- Familiarity with financial forecasting, internal reporting, and consolidations
- Experience performing manual reconciliations
- Studying towards or holding qualifications from AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW
