Our new team members.

A lot has happened at Bluefruit Software so far this year. From winning two Cornwall Business Awards to taking on a host of interesting new clients—we’ve also grown. We now have 72 people working here.

That means it’s time for a catch up with our new team members, so, we are pleased to introduce…

Jonathan Ostler (Software Engineer)

I’ve worked on various programming projects over the years and am pleased to be able to return to the embedded world—making a machine work with code is always great fun. I’ve relocated to Cornwall from the Home Counties to join Bluefruit and to be able to enjoy the coast and surroundings more.

Sarah Nash (Software Test Engineer)

Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m a Software Test Engineer in Team Indigo. I developed an interest in computing shortly after graduating from university with a History degree. While my biggest hobby is PC gaming, I also enjoy outdoor pursuits such as climbing, archery and skiing.

Tim Hvaal (Software Test Engineer)

I’m from up north originally and I’ve had a few different careers before starting here at Bluefruit—from scientific research to working in conservation as an ecologist. I’ve also lived in Australia and worked in marketing. I’ve always loved Cornwall though and moved here three years ago to work as a web designer.

After several months at Bluefruit, I would recommend it. It’s a chilled out place and a great place to work and learn! Outside of work I’m a big cinema fan, play guitar at a regular open mic night, and I’m attempting to run the Cornish coastal path (in extremely small sections).

Jowan Kitchener (Software Test Engineer)

I’m a Software Test Engineer on Team Indigo. Outside of work I enjoy travelling and have recently returned from an amazing couple of weeks in Mexico! I (try) to play football for Perranporth on the weekends and when I’m not running around, I’m usually eating, beaching or drinking coffee.

Ed Hazeldine (Junior Software Engineer)

Hi, I’m Ed and I’m now a Junior Software Engineer! I used to be a secondary school music teacher in London but have been teaching myself to code over the last two years and have made the move. I grew up in Cornwall and it’s hard to stay away for long. I’m glad to be back! In my spare time, I podcast, as well as doing lots of tech-related activities, mixed in with long walks (and working on my new house).

Steve Nicholls (Software Test Engineer)

Before joining Bluefruit as a Software Test Engineer, I was a QC Laboratory Technician for almost 10 years. When I’m not at work I enjoy walking around the Cornish coastline and have recently taken up surfing. I am a huge sports fan so when the weather isn’t so good (which can be often) I can usually be found watching football or NFL. I also enjoy gaming, watching the latest films and going to music festivals.

Tess A’Lee (Software Test Engineer)

Hello, I’m Tess. I have recently moved back home to Cornwall after living in London for five years, studying Theoretical Physics (MSci) at uni. I worked as a teaching assistant for a year in London but coming back to Cornwall has been the best decision I’ve made in a long time, and I’m excited to be here at Bluefruit! In my spare time, I enjoy spending as much time on or around the water as I can, I also love crocheting, films and music.

Ethan Bradley (Software Test Engineer)

I’m Ethan and I’m a Software Test Engineer a Bluefruit. Outside of work I write and perform music in a band. In my free time, I like to play games (video and board games) and sometimes I try making them too.

Tom Burley (Trainee Software Developer)

Before Bluefruit, I worked as a team lead in Cornwall Council’s pension team. I developed an interest in programming a few years ago, and when the opportunity to join Bluefruit as a trainee arose it was too good to pass up.

Outside of work I enjoy strength training, gaming, and am an avid Formula 1 fan.

I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks, but I feel at home already and am very excited to get started with my career as a software developer.

Jamie Pascoe (Trainee Software Developer)

I’m James—the newest Trainee Software Developer in Team Rocket. I’m a mathematics grad with a postgrad in mechanical engineering. For the past couple of years, I’ve been working at Truro College and spending holidays backpacking around Europe. Outside of work, you can usually find me near a beach—swimming, surfing badly or hosting dubiously-cooked BBQs.
